Faith

I've been struggling with the meaning of faith of late. What is faith? What does it mean to have faith? What does the bible say about faith and blind faith? Is faith what some of us humans believe it to be, or is it something more? What exactly is a leap of faith, and are we required to take that leap at any given point? Where does faith stop? What does the bible say about those who have struggled and suffered so much with no answers that they have lost their faith? There are many more questions on this topic, but I will leave it at this point for now. Maybe the answers to most of these questions will be the answers to the rest.

    faith |fāTH|
    noun
1 complete trust or confidence in someone or something: "this restores one's faith in politicians."
2 strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.

Basically, faith is believing / trusting in something. When you get out of bed in the morning and stand up, you have faith that the floor is going to support your weight and you step out on it. The opposite would be to believe that you will fall through it, so you remain in bed.

Faith in God works much the same way. You cannot see the wind, but you can feel it. We cannot see the air (Unless you live in L.A.) but we breathe it and we would die without it. Can we believe in what we have not seen? Blessed are those that do: (John 20:29).

I think having faith in God is difficult for some people. And, to be honest, it's sort of difficult for me too. My family is not religious(except for one Aunt and Uncle who are very strong belivers in Christ) so I never really learned to put God first,...  more

Tyler, I get what you are saying. The idea of "blind faith" one of my main questions as a "developing believer" (of which I still am, and I think most of us are and should be ;)). My thought was: "Why should I believe in...  more

Sylvia, in my view, a true relationship requires no tests, just trust and a lot of love and understanding. Both parties know the other and they have no worries or fears of the other turning against them or anything like that. They have deep trust of the...  more

I see what you mean, Tyler, but I think the difference of what we are talking about is in attitude. In my relationship with Dion, for instance, I don't go around making up things just to see if he will be faithful or not. That would be rather toxic....  more
