Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it. Matthew 16:24'25 WEB.
I once stood at a crossroads in my life and wondered which path to take. I could continue pursuing a career as a nocturnal musician who played all night and slept all day. Or I could enroll in bible college and trust God to give me a future. He gave me the invitation, but I had to make a choice.
On the one hand, I felt like I was giving up my life, or certainly all the fun in it. On the other, I had a nagging feeling the Lord wanted to prepare me for something better. Somehow I knew there was more to life than this. I ended up surrendering to His call and enrolled in school.
After surrendering to His will, my life began to change. I lost every friend and fan I had, just as I thought I would. Yet, I actually found something so much greater. I found my destiny, and soon the fun began.
God has a plan and a purpose for you, but it requires total surrender to see it. At first, it looks like a tremendous sacrifice, but in the end, the life He gives you back is so much greater than what you gave Him. When God gives you a chance to lay your life down for Him, surrender.Prayer: Heavenly Father, I will go wherever you tell me. I surrender to Your will. Please use me as Your hands, and let me see the world through Your eyes. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
