I Know That God is Real, Part Three
In my last video, I talked about having some one baptize me in the Holy Spirit. I would like to talk about that for a few minutes. I am fully aware that the little lady who laid her hands on my head was not who actually did the baptizing. She was just the facilitator much like the Apostle Paul in Acts 19:6; “And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.” This is the same thing that happened to me. I was taught as a boy that this kind of thing had stopped as the Apostles each died. That turned out to be so untrue. According to the Bible, Jesus is the one who did the baptizing. Luke 3:16 says; “John answered, saying to all, I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
I will come back to the fire some time down the road. I said that I have learned that when one has this experience, they will never question if God is real again. There are as I found out that so many others who have had this same experience, I think that most of them will tell you the same thing. I said that this experience opened up a new world to me. I suggest that every one should start praying and asking God for this experience. I have seen others who after asking many times, they were baptized with the evidence of speaking in tongues with no one else in the room. After all, Hebrews 13:8 says; “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and to day and for ever.” He can use any method He chooses.
When this happens for you, do not find yourself shocked, if you do not come away from the experience with out a prayer language. I know for me, over and over I tried to repeat the language I spoke in that first day, but I could not repeat it. Some of my so called spiritual friends seemed to think that I should. Two things did happen right away, first of all, I discovered that my faith level grew a great deal. Some day I will talk about what really did happen that day. The second thing that I noticed was that I understood the scriptures so much more clearly. It seemed that every thing I read from the Bible, I just some how, knew what it meant. I have heard it said before that the Bible has a veil over it, the baptism of the Holy Spirit seemed to unveil the scriptures. I believe this to be true, at least for me.
Because I had been healed in my body the first day at the church, I found myself very willing to pray for others to be healed. Over a period of time, I saw some success at this. Then I began feeling these strange pains in my own body. I went to the pastor and asked him about this, I said, the pains would never stay very long. He suggested that as I felt these pains, I should ask if someone was having the same pain, and I should pray for them to be healed. That turned out to be some of the best advice I have ever been given. Each time I would feel some kind of pain in my body, I would wait until the speaker had finished. I would say to them, before you close, I think God would like to heal some one. Not one time, did I not see the same result, they were all healed, and many of them were confirmed by their own doctors. My faith in God answering prayer just continued to grow!
I still did not have a prayer language, even though I had experience so many people being healed over the next few months. Then one Sunday morning, the pastor said to everyone, someone here is going to feel heat in their hands this morning. After he said this, he just went right back to teaching. About fifteen minutes passed by, and all of a sudden, it felt like someone had peeled the skin back on my hands and put hot burning coals in them. I had never felt anything quite like that, so I spoke up out loud, and said; ”I think my hands are on fire.”
The pastor stopped what he was doing, came down from the pulpit and put a chair in the front of the church. He called this man whom I had never seen before up to the front. He told everyone that the doctors had diagnosed this man with lung cancer and had given him just two weeks to live. He then told me to come up there that God was going to use me to see this man healed. I have seen a few things in my life, but that morning was different. As I came up to this man and laid my hands on his head, I just started to pray for him in English. I soon found myself praying for him in a new language I had not learned. A few minutes later, that man coughed, and I watched as a black cloud came out of his mouth. After that happened, the man went back to his seat, I did not know what to think. About three weeks went by and I stopped the pastor and asked how the man was doing. He replied, “He is healed and doing fine, God has healed him.” He never missed a beat, he just took that as a normal occurrence. But, I got my prayer language that morning and I still have it today.
As time went on, I found my gifts working outside the church. We own a small Pest Control business here at the beach. My job consists of treating condo complexes mostly. One day while I was treating an apartment south of us, I heard that voice say; “There is a lady of prayer here, I want you to speak with her.” This was very clear to me, but as I came into their presence, there were two ladies having a conversation. I had no idea which of these ladies the voice was speaking of, nor did I know what I was going to say. They continued to have their conversation as I finished, and I began to think that I was just hearing things. Not wanting to interrupt them, I just went out of the door to leave.
I had not taken over three steps outside the door, when this voice came again, only louder this time. He said; “I said there is a lady of prayer in there and I want you to speak with her!” It sounded like a parent, speaking to an unresponsive child, this really got my attention. I reminded Him that the two ladies were having a conversation. And I asked that if I knocked on the door, He would let the one I am supposed to speak with answer the door. I sat my things down and went back and knocked. A few seconds passed, and a lady came to the door. I could tell from the conversation earlier, that this was the cleaning lady. I asked her if she would mind closing the door, I would like to speak with her. She said OK, and closed the door. I asked her if she had ever had someone speak with her from God before. She said; “I have been a Pentecostal most of my life, I have seen others receive words, but not me personally.” As she was saying this, God said; “She has been praying about her husband,” I looked at her ring finger to see a wedding ring, but there was not one. When I told her what I had just heard, that ladies eyes became a big as saucers. She responded with; “I have, my husband has become disabled, and I have to leave him all alone in order to work for money.” Again God spoke; “Tell her that I have heard her prayers and I am going to answer them.” So I just told her what I had heard. She replied with; “Thank you for being obedient!” She gave me a quick hug and returned inside.
It would be three months before I returned to that apartment, to say I was excited probably does not do justice to how I felt. As I knock on the door this time, the lady who owned the apartment opened the door. Once inside, I just stopped and asked the lady what had happened with the lady I had seen the last time I was there. She responded with; “The strangest thing happened with her, she not only got a job working at home, but it paid her so well, that she has been able to buy them a new home.” God had not only answered this ladies prayers, He had done so in spades!
I suggest that one never question if God hears your prayers, I know that in His own time, He can and will answer them. When ever I hear someone say there is no evidence that God is real, I just shake my head at that statement. Please remember, the things that I am telling you about all happened in my own life. I am not telling you about things that I just heard somewhere, No, they happened to me!
