They said to the messengers who came, Thus shall you tell the men of Jabesh Gilead, Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have deliverance. The messengers came and told the men of Jabesh; and they were glad. 1 Samuel 11:9 WEB
The Ammonites besieged Jabesh Gilead intending to kill most of the inhabitants and loot the city. The people living there were in dire circumstances. The Ammonites told the people to surrender and open the gates, but they held on and sent out messengers to plead for help from the surrounding towns.
When Saul heard the news, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he told them to wait one more day. By the time the sun was hot tomorrow, they would be delivered. Saul gathered his men, and at sunrise, the battle began. The Ammonites were defeated, and the city was rescued from the siege.
The people of Jabesh were under intense pressure. The enemy wanted them to give up. But when they held on for one more day, God sent them help. When we are under pressure, many times, we just need to hold on one more day for our deliverance to arrive. In a matter of hours, things changed for them. Their breakthrough was so close, but if they had given up and surrendered, they would have never seen the victory.
Don't give up when things look dark or hopeless because your deliverance can be so close. There have been so many times when I went to bed worried, but when I woke up, the problem had already resolved itself, or I had a fresh outlook on how to handle it. The Spirit of the Lord watches over you, and there is nothing hidden from Him. By the time the sun is hot tomorrow, your situation may have changed for the better. Prayer: Heavenly Father, please send the Comforter to me today. You know my needs better than I do. Please help me hang on, draw my heart to You, and guide me into all that You have for me today, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
