Yahweh opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?" Balaam said to the donkey, "Because you have mocked me, I wish there were a sword in my hand, for now I would have killed you." The donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not yo...

The Kingdom of God, Part 3

  • Part 3 The Kingdom of God by Jim Jarrell from Jim Jarrell on Vimeo.

I would like to welcome everyone to the third video message for Refreshing Hope Ministries. I would especially like to welcome those who are battling Anxiety and Depression as that is what God has allowed me to overcome. I would also like to thank Pastor Dion and Sylvia for the opportunity to be a guest speaker here.

If you have been following these messages over the last two weeks, in the first one I told about my experiences with Anxiety and Depression and how God allowed me to hear about His Kingdom Message through a tape that my father gave me. In my 2 nd video, I spoke about how God wants us to know in this life that His promises are real and how we can know that they work in our lives. We do not have to wait until we get to heaven to walk in peace.

Doing these videos has given me a chance to reflect on my life a lot. Being 65 years old, I have lived just a few days now. I would not say that God took me down this journey, but more like He allowed me to go. When I was 14 years old, the Holy Spirit showed up in my life, and God called me into His Kingdom. But, because there was no one to show me how all this worked in my life, I just sort of put it on a shelf. Because I chose to put it on a shelf, by the time I was 18 years old, I had moved into rebellion fairly quickly. I started experimenting with drug use with my so called friends and life was spiraling out of control, I just could not see it.

In my early 20’s, I had married, and we had our first daughter. She was born with a heart defect, and she died in her first year. No parent should ever experience the loss of a child to death. That experience affected my life for more years in so many ways that I would be hard pressed to reveal them all. When she died, I was told that real men do not cry or show others their emotions. That was truly not the best advice I ever got in my life. I do believe that they had my best interest at heart; it was just how society had taught them. It resulted in my becoming very depressed and anxiety became a way of life and my continued drug use for so many years really took hold in my life.

Me, I blamed God. From my experience when I was 14, I knew that God was real. I was taught that God has an angry side to Him and I thought that was what He was showing me. I later learn that God is always a loving God and He is not capable of anything else, but I had to learn that as time went on. I know now that He was doing the best thing for me by taking my daughter home, but I did not understand that at that time. It would be many years before I would come to understand the truth. Because I had experimented with drugs early in life, I quickly learned to self-medicate my emotions. I thought that by using drugs, I could cover up to others how I was feeling, and it seemed to work at first. Continued drug use can change a person’s behavior. Denial is such a powerful thing in a human life, I did not see what was happening, life just sort of happened. It truly surprises me how far God’s hand is willing to go before He reals us back into His kingdom.

It seems like my entire life has been leading up to this point. A week or so passed, Pastor Dion said in his message that he considers himself a coach more than a Pastor. He teaches from his own life experiences. He seems to feel that if he tells you truth from his life, maybe you can learn from it and apply those things to your own life. I guess that is what God has been doing with me for most of my life, I just did not understand. There are so many people teaching things they learn in a school setting. Real life experiences can be so revealing, I believe that a person should teach from a position of experience. That is what Pastor Dion does and I do not want to be any different. I can tell everyone that God’s promises will happen if you put these experiences to work in your life. The things I have learned and teach are a result of my own life.

Now we come to what I learned from that tape on the Kingdome of God. That Pastor said on that tape that Jesus came with more than just the Salvation message for people in His trip to the Earth. The Bible says in Mark 1:14; Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” You see, repentance and believing were not the only things Jesus said. He said; The Kingdom is at hand, or it is here. It is time for everyone to come into it.

Most people do not understand is that when Jesus talked most of the time, He talked in parables. The Bible says in Mar 4:10; As soon as He was alone, His followers, along with the twelve, began asking Him about the parables. And He was saying to them, “To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God, but those who are outside get everything in parables, so that WHILE SEEING, THEY MAY SEE AND NOT PERCEIVE, AND WHILE HEARING, THEY MAY HEAR AND NOT UNDERSTAND, OTHERWISE THEY MIGHT RETURN AND BE FORGIVEN.” Jesus explained to His disciples that the words that Jesus was speaking needed to be covered up so that people, who did not believe, could not understand. Jesus goes on to say that because He had chosen them, that it was granted for them to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God. Now that the Bible has been published, those who receive Grace are the ones who can know the mysteries of this Kingdom.

What this Pastor taught was from Matthew 6:25-34 which says; “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? “And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? “And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. “But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ “For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I do not have total recall of everything that tape said, that pastor was a very smart man. He was a retired military man and he was so boring to listen to. I am not sure if he ever put this message to work in his life, but the main message was; why would Jesus tell us to seek something that could not be found? You see, Jesus said to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you. It seemed to me a good place to start.

I knew that I did not want to return to using drugs to cover up how I was feeling. I knew that it was very hard to be around many people feeling like I felt. When one is depressed, and anxiety, and fear of others seeing how you are feeling; life can be very hard. This passage of scripture was saying that I could have all this peace in my life, but that was not happening at the time.

So, I went home and found a Bible, and started studying about this Kingdom of God. I read everything I could and I tried so hard to let them happen in my life. This did not happen overnight. It took a lot of study. It seems with God, He wants to know if we are serious. But as I continued to study how to be led by the Holy Spirit became clear to me. As I learned to follow what the Holy Spirit wanted to do next in my life, I began to see the Kingdom being opened up to me. I think I can teach everyone the things I have learned so far. I hope everyone listening will do the same thing. I do not know how close we really are to the end of this age. But Jesus said in Matthew 24:14; “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. I believe that now is the time to put this Kingdom message to work in your life. Jesus said this Gospel of the kingdom will be preached as a testimony and then the end would come.

I can tell you two things. First, God has allowed this to happen in my life and I am not anyone special. Secondly, this website has the ability to go completely around the world. I have to ask, is this the way Jesus saw coming? God really does answer prayer. Jesus said in John 15:7; “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. I would like you to notice, Jesus said if my words abide in you. He made His statement provisional on His words abiding in you. Then you can ask for yourself and it will be done for you. Just think about it, I said to that Pastor that the desire of my heart was to go to every church in America. This website and these videos can do everything I asked.

In my next video, I will start letting you know the how of what I learned. Until next time, my name is Jim Jarrell, and I am so grateful to those who continue to listen. I will be in the chat room for the next hour or so to answer questions and pray for those who would like it.
