David therefore departed there, and escaped to the cave of Adullam: and when his brothers and all his father's house heard it, they went down there to him. Everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented, gathered themselves to him; and he became captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men. 1 Samuel 22:1 WEBKing Saul became extremely jealous over his son-in-law David and his endless victories. He felt that David was after his throne and that the people were beginning to support him. As Saul grew more and more bitter, he finally went berserk and tried to pin David to the wall with a spear. So David had to leave town, find somewhere safe for his parents, and he went and stayed in a cave.
David was the original Robin Hood, an outlaw that king Saul wanted dead. Soon all the people who were outcasts, the black sheep, the unwanted, the bankrupt of the area, gathered to him and became a small army of four-hundred men. Later it grew to about six-hundred men (1Sam. 25:13).
David saw something in them and he turned this group into 'mighty men' that would do anything for him. They became valiant fighters who never lost a battle. Some of these were a match for a hundred men, while the strongest were a match for a thousand.
They became giant killers just like their leader David. Elhanan killed Goliath's brother (1Chr. 20:5). Three of the men once heard David longing for water from the well in Bethlehem, which was occupied by an angry philistine army. They broke through the enemy lines and got it for him (2Sam. 23:15, 1Chr. 11:17).
No matter where you stand today, or what you have got yourself into, God sees the potential inside of you. With a relationship with Him you can become so much more than you ever dreamed. You have not even seen the true potential that is inside of you until He reveals it. God will make your failure become a victory, and no one can stand before you, when God Almighty is behind you.

Last night I was listening to Christian radio and the speaker was talking about Joseph and his brothers that threw him in the well. When THey met again Joseph was the 2nd most powerful man in Egypt. The brothers feared that Joseph would be bitter, but Jospeh said, "What you meant for bad, God used for good." Then the speaker listed many bad things that can happen. HE stated, "Your divorce was meant for bad, but God used it for good." I broke out into tears when I heard that as I have been divorced twice. Obvviously I still have healing to do over this, but GOd is speaking and telling me that I am loved, that he can use all things for his good. Saul, like you said was a bitter man. When we let bitterness take root, evil encapsulates our heart. God wants us to love and forgive and I think I have done that with my ex, but know I need more love and forgiveness so that I can move on and be free of any evil and do the will of GOd.
What an awesome way He used to speak to you, Michelle, praise God! Forgiveness can often be more of a journey than a simple act, but how wonderful that He encourages us as we go through it! Praying for much grace and a renewal of spirit, sister <3!
Thank you for sharing that Michelle. I too have been divorced twice. I have forgiven and moved on with love but as you mentioned there is still healing to be done in me. I know God can use bad things for good according to His plan. These heartbreaks have pushed me closer to God. Hang in there, I know He has a good plan for you!
I too have been divorced twice. And married to my third wife. I completely agree with the speaker you were listening to. The Lord had allot of work to do in me. I have been completely blessed in my third marriage. At 43 years old. I finally broke down and prayed. Something like this. "Lord please help me find someone to love. Bring the right person into my life. I need you to pick someone out for me! Because apparently I'm a idiot in finding a wife!" Lol I can look back and laugh at it now. But I was serious. And he did. I let him lead.
God has something greater for you. And he wants nothing but the best for you. :)
Amen
